Looking for Texas Ebony

I also have some Texas Ebony grown in South Texas. Reading through the posts, I still cannot ascertain what size(s) are needed. I can't rehome all of it, but I am happy to share in some of the bounty.
The two pieces I have are ~ 2" x ~4" x < 22" (?), but they have a hefty crack or two from before they were planed.
The color is a rich dark brown with hints of slightly lighter dark brown. See photo. The larger, darker piece is in the garage (not photographed)
And, what size is an official sample? I could certainly cut some pieces without cracks. Just need the size to know for sure.
Thanks!

@Mr. Peet
what size would you like.. sample or working
size I am sure I owe you!!!!

Not looking for a craft piece, just want to add a few good reference samples to the collection. I have a thin flat sawn sample. Looking for a 1/4 sawn sample, prefer something with sapwood and heartwood. My samples finish at 3" wide by 6" long by 1/2" thick.

Thank you.

I'm not certain if mine are quarter sawn, but I'm told they are from the same tree. Size should not be a limiting factor. Perhaps I could take a few more photos and you could tell me if it is quarter sawn, has sufficient sap wood, etc., for your uses. I want to support sample gathering for educational and scientific purposes. :-)

Thanks JB,

Please post a few more pictures for Mlyle, and one of the end grain to see orientation.

Mlyle, if you state what exactly you want in size, I'm pretty sure I can help. Pictured below are some logs I got about 2 years ago with @Crocy in Aus. The first picture has about 6 logs, the largest being at least 10 "OD on the end shown. The other end is a broken crotch, which is more like 12' across. the smaller logs are 8" - 4" OD and about 18+" long. These have been covered with brush and exposed outside the whole time. 3284AEF6-E7C6-4777-98C6-D6B0D52E4BDB_1_201_a.jpeg

This picture shows logs from 12" OD to 6" OD and at least 18" long. What do you really want. I can cut any size needed.. These logs have been under my house from day 2.

Jerry,

I think you sent a small cookie, but not anything of sample size. If you did, I lost it here. I'll have to look around a bit and check notes.

EDIT: We had a PM April 5, 2020 talking about it, but looks like we had not finished the conversation. The title was "Catclaw"

Oh I do remember that day we collected that wood. I really wanted to bring some home but being green, I would have lost it at customs. Beautiful timber guys.
Rgds,
Crocy.
Well, I gotta ask, Richard. Has your heart rate dropped any since that day??........... Jerry (in Tucson)

I like the 6” OD x 18 if not too many cracks!
This is Arizona. Cracks are part of the nature of wood out here. Mesquite has cracks while the tree is growing. .............. 6" OD with bark and sapwood. 30 bucks plus shipping by either UPS or FedEx. Didn't I send you some awhile back?? ........ Jerry (in Tucson)
