Rare exotics and edible fruit woods

@Big Ry here is a piece of Wandoo (Eucalyptus wandoo). Very tough wood. If you ever get a chance go on tit tok or YouTube and search the wandoo challenge. It’s this big burly Australian guys with big axes trying to split logs of wandoo. It’s a bit faulty. A little CA glue can clean it up. 8” x 2 1/4” x 1 5/8”. $25

@Steelart99 @Mike Hill

sorry if I didn’t confirm earlier with you guys. But I have each of you down for a board of the master grade gidgee. Just wanted to let you know I saw your claims and the boards are yours.

@Friedrich9 i think all that's left to go over is the buloke you have to dig out and the size of the Yarran to cut off. Beyond that I think we have sorted everything else out.

I should probably call it quits after that unless you got some more cool ones in the sub-$50 range or you got some waddywood or other unicorn species. I have a pretty nice stack as it is, and I've spent a lot on wood recently!

@Big Ry I got some cleaner Yarran to show you tonight, also dug out the piece of buloke. I have to run to the hospital now, but I didn’t forget

That looks a lot different than I was expecting. Every time I see Australian buloke, it's got these huge veins or voids running parallel to the grain. This is definitely the same species?
Yeah, this is buloke. Atleast that’s what the guy who sold it to me told me. The end grain on the board looks correct. It’s just not cut in a way to show off that figure, and its rays are thin and narrow compared to the better buloke. I’ll get more with that figure at some point. I’m hoping soon because I like to turn bowls out of it. But if you aren’t too happy with this piece, I think it’s better to wait until I get the other stuff in. I can show you some Hairy Oak, it’s in the same genus as buloke.

No it's fine. If you say it's correct, I trust you. I just wanted to double check. Ok throw that on the list. I think that just leaves the Yarran which you may have already responded about but I just haven't seen it yet lol

@Friedrich9 this is where we stand with the order. I think we are set on the pieces. I just don't believe we ever discussed size or price for the Yarran you're cutting up for me and SA-Motors, and you didn't list dimensions on the new Boonaree.

@Big Ry yeah That blower is my primary dust control system 😂.

I finally dug out some of my Purple Wattle. I split the log quarter so that I can get a few bowl blanks from the one side. Some would probably say this qualifies as a unicorn species. Holds its color better than purple gidgee, Waddywood, or Purpleheart. If you are interested I’ll show you what I have left over.

Yeah i might be interested in that too. I've had good luck baking purple heart to retain its color. Been about 10 months since I first tried, and it hasn't lost color yet!

Hi @Friedrich9 thank you for cutting the yarran for us. I would be interested in the purple wattle if you have enough for an 18 inch spindle blank the size I need. I would probably also like a bowl if you have one that could make a bowl about 7 to 8 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches tall.
