What did you do in your shop today?

Nice to see a young girl being interested in something like this.....good for you to help her along!

And.....what pen kit is that? I'd like to try some with just one piece.

George, both the pen and stand kit are from Pen State Industries.

Everyday classic pen #PKEDCLAB

Pen stand kit #PKSTANDYBK

Rough turned a couple reel seat inserts getting ready to stabilize (I rough turn them so the resin penetrates fully and I use less resin). Then I rounded the corners of the top of that hallway table I'm making, which also meant I need to redo the bevel on the underside. Then I finished three fly boxes I promised to people. Used teak oil as the finish, 4 applications with 0000 steel wool inbetween. Then glued in the photo discs on two of them. Let's see, then I fiddled with making a drip system for the plants on the deck. We're going to be gone later this summer and it'll be easier than asking someone to come over everyday to water them. Ran the garden hose from in back up to the deck, made a clamp device to secure it and the riser with the 6 port drip manifold to one of the planter stands I made. Then fiddled around with various nozzles and hoses to various pots (they're all different sizes and so they have different water needs). The on/off device has two start times per day and I can set the duration so I think it'll work out even if it gets hot. One of those design on the go projects but thankfully had all the parts and pieces in my stash so no trips to the hardware store. Now, it's happy hour.

Well, the right knee has heeled to the point that I was able to get in the shop again after 5 weeks absence.
Felt wonderful ! I've got the whole month of July now before I get the left knee replaced and then back on the couch
again. Those first 2 weeks after the surgery are pretty rough.

@DLJeffs
No pics no......well you know the old saying!!
I took some pics but thought I'd wait until the new owners get them. Don't want to ruin the surprise. And maybe the new owners don't want their fly box photos being shared all willy-nilly on the intertubes without their permission. Shoot, I'd probably be accused of discriminating against someone or something.

OK, ok, I apologize for being a smart ass. Here's a photo ...

Besides unloading a couple boxes, I pulled some pen blanks out and got with it. Nice to have some blanks cut, tubes glued in, and trimmed. knocked 7 out before tiring out.

Mesquite, 2 DIW, oak burl (I think), blue stained pine, mystery, and pink acrylic for my amazing nurse.

Very Cool!! Thanks for posting!! For futures boxes slight pressure from some F clamps will bring those top seams together better.

OK, ok, I apologize for being a smart ass. (hehehe)

There's only room for one smart ass in this town, pilgrim. I don't think I have an F clamp, only C clamps and those ones with long bars and trigger handles - would one of those work? And how much pressure is "slight" pressure? Is that more or less than "a gentle squeeze"?

And productivity continues. This might be the last…. But will set up multiple blanks in the future for sure. This has been fun.

Bolt Actions: Purple Heart and I think Mora. Sierra/Wall Street II: one of my favorite acrylics for the ladies, red gum from someone on WB, and I think another Mora.

And finally I saw this blank years ago and knew it had to go on a Triton or similar kit!!!!
