What did you do in your shop today?

Rough cutting burls today. Got a maple and white oak done then killed the chain on the next. Will change the chain and get back to the rest of them next time.

Cut some blanks from yesterdays roughed pieces. Four on the left are oak, others thought was maple but doesn’t look like it now, not sure what it is. Soft like sugar maple but shows spaghetti, different grain and no smell. Thought Beech but bark no match, like it no matter what it is, will just call it ?wood on the label of finished piece.

Made a couple simple wood 'trees' for her yo decorate for Christmas.
Cut off a small piece of the purple smokebush to see if it was solid....it is.
And split the big chunk of hickory....think I need to go get some more!

Had a small piece of burning bush (Euonymus) die and I pulled it out today. Large enough for a small form, so chucked it up and spin it. Interesting spalt lines and colors. Real punky towards the mouth, so think I'll mix up some poor man's hardener (epoxy plus acetone) and give it a soak before I finish the outside.

Yep. Ready to... 🤣

Some will be cut and drilled for pen blanks. The guy that I got the whitetail from wants some turkey call strikers with the antler incorporated into them.

Using the antler for thick part/ top of the striker?
Never thought of that....

I'll make one with all antler except the tip. He knows it probably won't sound good but he's fine with that. I'll put sections of antler and wood in the others
