What did you do in your shop today?

A little more progress on the next batches. I finished sanding ding the refrigerator magnets.
I used a brad point bit to drill the holes for the magnets. 20240913_174734.webp
All drilled to 1/8" depth. 20240913_174739.webp
I finished cutting out this batch of crosses. 33 in this batch. Need to be sanded yet.

I changed the paper on the sanding mop in preparation for the sanding.
That was it for today's shop time.

Finally getting around to doing the ceiling in my shop. I have my daughter staying with us for a month before she moves to Spain. Putting her to work, she’s manning the chop saw and handing me up the boards.

This was done a couple months ago, I just hadn’t posted it yet. One of my coworkers sons, who has come over and turned a couple of pens wanted to do another project. He picked out a rough turned cherry bowl blank that we worked on together. The icing on the cake was the laser engraving on the bottom.

That looks like "one happy young man" Dan. Congrats and way to go.

You never know where this experience might lead him later in life.

That's pretty cool you spend that time with him Dan. I think kids learn a lot from adults other than their parents and often they will be more open, honest and frank with someone who isn't their parent and ask questions they might not ask their parent.

Got the new hose reel about wrapped up. Dug my welder out to make a handle, and recall why I don't weld much. (Hopefully they hold, I think the limitof a 100 amp sevice is killing the penetrative effectof the welder) the handle is drying from the spray paint... here's the reen sans handle

I so enj doing the drum brakes a few weeks ago I took them apart again. So much fun. Talking to my buddy yesterday that helped with the ceiling Sheetrock, I realized I didn’t fully understand how the auto-abjures worked and realized I needed to swap sides. Yes, they were marked L and R, but just didn’t grasp how they worked because one side was messed up when I originally took them apart.

Only had to undo one spring and loosen the adjuster and was able to swap them. Hopefully the last time I touch them for several years.

Unfortunately, nothing. But the sun may come out tomorrow.
Resting up is a hard thing for me, as I want to just plow through things. But, at times, is essential. I would hope & pray that your cycle of resting will buoy you right back to a season of productivity. Chuck

Same accolades for coaching a young lad, Bill.

I made 3 shelves for my Mom's apartment. Nothing fancy, used those slotted brackets. Had some leftover melamine for two shelves and made the third from leftover plywood. Cut boards for the all to clean up the edges, and left them stick up about a half inch to help ensure stuff my mom puts on them stays there. Went down today to put them up and discovered the wall isn't square. Two shelves fit perfectly, the third one bumps against the wall. Doh! I knew that about existing buildings but forgot to check. So now I get to widen the gap where that 3rd shelf fits over the slotted bracket so it will fit.

I've found walls are rarely square, unfortunately. Best of luck forcing the shelving to fit! Chuck
