What did you do in your shop today?

I was in the shop for an hour or two, built a wooden box for my kid's trunk for his work tools and started to inventory equipment. The decision has been made to sell the shop building so now to decide what equipment to sell and what to keep....

Eventually have about 1000 pen kits to sort and sell off too....

Hope that's a good thing Colin (selling the shop building that is).

At this point, it can't be a bad thing any more than losing money and the stress. If we can sell it, pay off the house, maybe buy a little motor home and travel. Or at least get back to where I'd actually enjoy woodworking rather than it being something I HAVE to do.

Been getting the house painted over the last week (so hot the painter can only work half days but that's okay). Anyway, like any refurb job, once the house looked like new, the outside lights looked like crap. So spent today cleaning them up, scuffing up the existing paint, and spraying them with Krylon metal high heat black. 3 light coats. Made me a little spray booth from a cardboard box and my shop chair (duct taped the back surface of the box to the backrest of the chair. After 48 hours I'll apply a couple coats of clear and then rehang them. After that I suppose the front door will look like crap and I'll have to re-paint it. Oh well.

Finished cutting all the big slabs we sawed into bowl blanks and sealed. Now to get my box trailer sold so I can buy a bigger one and get everything on pallets/crates and loaded for SWAT. Anyone looking for a 6×12 v-nose box trailer 😁

Been there, done that twice with mine. Makes them look like new. Why the hi heat paint?

Just what my painter already had in his truck and he wanted to use it up. I figured if the lights are on for an hour or two there's some heat so what the heck. Not sure what the define as "hi heat", but that's what it said on the can.

Does it have a v-nose door also? How high is it (inside dimension)? Is the 6 foot wide inside? Is the 12 foot length inside, or overall?

It has been forever since I spent significant time in the shop. My 11 year old next door neighbor was back today practicing beads and coves.
I wish I could find someone to mentor. Kids around here just dont have an interest it seems. I'm sure there are some but it's hard to connect.

We have a big gap in ages here. Right now we have 4 that are less than 2 yo. And coming in about a month or so (when college starts) we'll have 4 or 5 around 20 yo.

Keep teaching! We need young folks in this great hobby! Chuck
Agree with you Chuck. Today, I was going to take her to a friend/club member who teaches turning in one of our local high schools. Turns out I got exposed Monday so I’m laying low for now. Hope it all goes well because my wife’s funeral is Friday.

Exposed to Covid?

A short time ago I posted that I got two pieces of lilac from a neighbors yard. I sealed the ends expecting to get to them soon. A recent post pointed out how bad it cracks. I checked mine last night and one has cracked. Shucks..

I met with a realtor at my shop today. I guess there's a potential buyer before it's even hit MLS so we'll see what happens after she shows it on Friday. If all goes well, I'll be moving a LOT of lumber and tools.

Will you be moving far, or just local? Chuck
