Yesterday was a breath of fresh air. Only got up to 73, a very welcomed break.
Started the day doing a 50' tall blue spruce removal. Homeowner asked if I could get the pull rope on his push mower fixed. Took it home. The rope was really solid, just frayed on each end, and the end at the recoil had snapped. Took covers off, removed recoil assembly, reattached rope and wound. Installed recoil, re-tensioned rope and put it back together. Dropped the mower off and told the owner the rope was now 4 inches shorter, "Don't pull it as far."
Took wife to Ace Hardware, picked up some mower items, then to a fancy Italian joint close by for lunch (go twice a year). When we got home, put work clothes back on and went back into mowers. Replaced a drive cable on a 6.5 hp Briggs self propelled, replaced a lower crank seal on a Briggs 4.5 push mower.
Then got to work on her new used riding mower. Replaced bent steering drag links with new adjustable drag links, repacked steering spindles with better bushings and better washers to limit slack, replaced warn wheel hub bushings and warn spacer washers, replaced warn out front tires. The front toe looks good, did not adjust the drag links at all. Put on some new spindle dust caps and hub covers. The dust caps I got did not work, so used wheel hub caps. Below is a web picture of the same make and model, and very similar shape. 50 degree morning, such a nice change. Heat comes back tomorrow.
