They're both hot but the blond turned into that demon witch thing in Frodo's dream, remember? And the dark haired one had the ability to control the water in the river. I figure if she went fishing with me and I needed the tide to change or the river to drop a little, she'd be just the ticket.

Gouge handles two ways. The one on the bottom is a One-way collet which work well. The collet screws onto a sized tenon and holds the gouge with a single set screw. Nice to be able to switch quickly between gouges, but I've been doing that more and more and starting to loose track of the different gouges when they aren't mounted. Only drawback is they are ~$20 each.

Rather than order a bunch, just decided to turn some old fashioned handles. Used a brass fitting turned down to size for a little reinforcement. That one will use a little dollop of epoxy to hold the brass in place. Gouge has a friction fit which will be enough to hold it.

Both are black locust. One on bottom was done yesterday and already has some oil on it. Other will be epoxied tonight and oiled.

Black gouge is a 3/8" shallow detail gouge from Thompson, silver one is a 3/8" bowl gouge from D-Way.

Started yesterday on emptying my trailer of a bunch of spalted ambrosia maple. Cutting up into blanks. Leftovers of these logs...

Now to get it all Anchorsealed and ready for SWAT in August

Those curved edges tend to have curl in them. Make lovely pen blanks and if there is a burly knot there, makes lovely knife scales...
I am not able to slip any more wood past the warden at the moment. I have a box of phinds smalls to explain in the next week or so.
Just something to look at before you light the fire.

I Worked on my dust collector. Seemed like it was working very poorly lately so I decided to find the problem. I eliminated a couple sections of flex hose and a few feet of metal pipe. Then I taped a few joints and added a few screws, I used PVC cement when I installed it but it's sewer and drain pipe and it didn't bond well. After all that it still wasn't working well. My filter was in a corner making it hard to clean so I decided to move it a little bit. To move it I had to disconnect the 6" flex hose that goes from the cyclone to the blower. When I did some shavings fell out, further investigation revealed that a gob of shavings was lodged on the grate that covers the impeller. Had I looked there first it would have been a 10 minute fix but I am happy that I fixed the other issues. It seems like it's working better than ever. IMG_20260109_144411421.webp
