The two part walnut/Brazilian something was fun to make. Takes a little figuring with overlaps and overhangs and depth needed for the ogey's and for the artwork & glass, etc.

Roughed out the next batch
It still has some areas to fix, but I'm happy with the very slow progress on this piece of wood. Pinus aristata.

What is that reddish wood? Bubinga? It looks like it will be quite amazing once finished.
Hormigo Negro… never heard of it either
Platymiscium spp., I assume. There are several common names for this wood and I assure you, you have likely heard of at least one of the names.
I have heard of it. Hormigo rojo refers to the redder pieces and negro to the blacker. This one seems like it should be a rojo. Cool stuff anyway. Not easy to get in Europe. Gotta hit up the specialty suppliers.
Rescued it from a collection of common wood that got donated to the Makers Mill where I teach.
Lucky find. It doesn’t look so red before finish. Looks like it really lights up. Not as much as jarrah though.
Over 100 deg outside today so stayed in and cut some blanks from flat stock.

Ugly piece of black locust that’s been taking up space in my garage for too long.
Some ugly will stay and become “art”.
The yellow is stunning, wish it would hold but I’m afraid it will fade to brown.

It may be, Eric. It’s been laying around so long I really can’t remember. I’ve got locust trees on the property but no Osage. Frankly, I don’t recall where I got it. May have a couple more.
Whatever it is, the Color will fade to brown.
