What free wood did you find today?

@DLJeffs , it would be suited more for Coyotes. The hole diameter was almost 14" in places. I'm now wishing I had taken a slab section just to see what the grain was like. But, not now........... Jerry (in Tucson)
Yeah, that's a little on the large size for most birds. How about zoos or natural museums that have skunks, possums, foxes...squirrels, everyone loves squirrels. Oh wait, maybe not everyone.

A close friend invited us out to their place to watch the Super Bowl, he said to drive the truck. He's organizing the barn and wanted this little stick of Red Oak out of the way. Two trees died during our big freeze a couple of years ago. A local sawyer got the trees and brought him back this piece for a mantle. It's about 3.75" thick, 17" wide, and about 7' long. Still green and a heavy piece of wood.

We'll let it dry for a couple of more years and then figure out an end use. Some part of it will make its way back to their home.

Nephew in law showed up this morning with another bunch of walnut. Best thing was I didn't have to help load it! Just rolled it off into a pile.

Here is everything stacked. The walking stick is about 54" tall for some reference.

Well they're officially mine. On the trailer waiting for processing. I'll be posting a picture of one in wood id that I'm not sure about. Check it out and see what you think. These are cherry, a couple oak, one walnut and the unknown.
