That is some cool looking wood! Even if you need to stabilize some of it, definitely worth the effort.
Byron, that is ourstandng!!!!!!I found this blue stained Taiwanese fir (I think) washed up after the last typhoon. I sealed the back and cleaned it up with a cabinet scraper. Thing is dense too.

3 weeks ago, was still smoldering today so I was about a week late. Got a winch on hitch setup ready to gather, so I got NO free wood todayAbout 3 weeks ago there was a pile of stumps 15 to 20 ft deep covering an area the size of a football field
Today I went back for the two bristlecone stumps I saw and mentioned in the earlier post. This is what I found today, Forest circus burned it all

Well, they saw all that carbon sequestered in that wood and knew it was meant to be freed with all the bison methane. Waste today what you want tomorrow so tomorrow is also a waste.About 3 weeks ago there was a pile of stumps 15 to 20 ft deep covering an area the size of a football field

Don't think I haven't considered it! Problem is this stuff burns so hot and quick it might take out the whole row of spruce.Make a new burn pile, right inside that bend in the driveway there.... bring the mountain to mohammed and all that.
It's the blue Spruce I mentioned last week. Not good for anything except maybe a fragrant camp fireSpecies?
And a 500 gallon propane tank….Here's a different view of why I decided not to do that. Just a little too close to the house and the row of half dead spruce.

Smaller bowl blanks, lots of spindle/hollow form blanks. It's my go to for finials as it takes details very well.I brought home a 6' bolt of apple, 12" diameter. Was close to 300 pounds, must be super saturated. Now, to figure out what to do with it......
