For back late last night after three days of tornado disaster work. Here are a few more pics.

This was the largest tree that we tackled so far.

When roofs are turn off then rains comes in and soaks everything. Many houses like this over will have to be demolished. Many of the home owners in the poorer areas had no insurance.

Too tired to collect more than a small mix load of walnut, maple, oak, cherry and mulberry.
PXL_20250413_215609323.MP.jpg

Tornado removed this house from the foundation and left some furniture behind.

The houses with damaged roofs but savable eill get tarped to prevent further rain damage. Sometimes these tarps stay up more than a year or two while the owner gets to get funds for repairing their roof.

Sometimes there's just no roof to tarp.

I went out into the desert yesterday and got a few Cholla stalks. Most are just at 4”OD, but several are larger, up to 8 inches. IMG_5923.webp Well, won’t be able to post any more pictures as my phone says they’re too large. Anyway , Cholla is Cholla. It all looks the same, so you’re not missing anything ………… Nubs

Man, I essentially don't listen, read, or watch local news anymore so that may be the reason. But we have heard very little about this. I guess when you are focused on being the "It" city and entertaining drunk monkeys, other's problems don't mean much! Most of what I know about it is through an organization Operation BBQ.

Get signed up with Samaritan's Purse to get notified when volunteers are needed for disaster recovery. They are one of quickest organizations to get on site with trained staff and volunteers along with equipment after a disaster hits. Can't say enough good things about my experience volunteering with them.

Tornadoes barely missed hitting both Memphis and Nashville during this storm. You never know when it might be your turn for needing help after a disaster so please volunteer whenever you can. We could really use people like you with building experience and /or access to equipment like skid steers.

Used to do UMCOR before, but needed another organization after...... Combining cooking bbq with feeding at disasters - so came up with Operation BBQ. Have not been able to deploy, I can only go on weekends, and the more veteran guys get those spots. I'll have to wait until retirement to be able to do much with them. Had not really heard of volunteering with Samaritan's Purse until just before Christmas. They really seemed to be doing some great work in East Tenn and NC after the hurricane.

There's too much truth in the above statements. The people affected are in dire need, and we could be the one in need next time.

Last November, I signed up with Texans on Mission as a volunteer on the chainsaw crews. There have been multiple opportunities but I haven't been able to participate yet. Many of the opportunities are out of state and they would like each volunteer to commit to 7 days. It's a big ask with a full time job.

You fellas have it good, living in the city the only thing I can muster to get free are twigs and branches usually when something goes down on Parks & Recreation ground. Washington Square Park was officially designated as a public park in 1826. Some of the tree’s here existed before that like one of the English elm trees (“Hangman’s Elm”) reportedly 300 years old. There are reportedly about 40 species here; 270 trees. I did run into this today and I had to have a moment of silence. I pray the chipper or the dump truck don’t get to this- someone in the Parks & Recreation’s will come back and actually cut these up into shorts for easy disposal. Poor things need a new lease on life.

Had a land owner contact me to see if I wanted some free logs. He’s clearing 30 acres of eastern red cedar. Moved 5 trailer loads so far. Probably another 10 to go. Not an exotic hardwood or anything but still makes for some beautiful projects.
