Tail stock steady from Nubs. Paid a little extra and got quite a bit of stuff. Not sure what flavor of wood he sent but think I'll get some nice turnings out of them.

Thanks for posting this stuff, Roger. The largest piece with all the cracks is Olive. The next large piece is probably Mesquite, but it also looks like Eucalyptus. The little crotch is 98% Mesquite. Cholla of course is the Cylindropuntia Fulgida variety. The cone is a driver for keeping the walls even or centering when turning the Cholla. It fits any 50mm chuck.

One more request on the TSS. Put a couple engraved lines through the word "Pending" and put the # symbol somewhere between the word Patent, or near the numbers. That will make this TSS legitimate. I have no clue why I didn't do that before it left my place.

Oh, the pen blanks are Mesquite, 3 Fulgida's, one Versecolor and 2 Desert Ironwoods.

If you have any questions about how to use this TSS, PLEASE, do not hesitate asking questions. After all, I'm the ex spert, know in England as a "Has Been Drip" ............. Nubs

Watching a couple of Car Jacobson’s videos recently, he has used Cindy Drozda’s live centers. Since our club has been doing finials for Christmas ornaments, I splurged. Not only got her micro point, but the 3 replacement tips as well.

Today I got a used DeWalt 939 circular saw. Trigger went bad on mine. Spent weeks looking for a replacement. Cheaper to buy the whole saw.



The 'T' handle was broken on mine as well. I short wired (bi-passed trigger) ours but thought a bit dangerous for the girls, being it was on as soon as the battery was in. We'll keep it as parts.

Definitely a bit dangerous for anyone not aware of an immediate blade movement thing. Lots of people treat these like a different breed. Toy. Instead of tool. And have their fingers in contact with the blade while doing things like inserting or removing the battery. I would likely tape over the battery insert area and write myself and others a note about that trigger on the tape

Watched a YouTube video the other night and then spent time on Amazon. Double-sided tape, Jorgensen saw, framing square edge clamp, kit to build my own hose clamps for future segment bowl rings, and corner router guide kit.

Obviously a conspiracy……

And finally spent the money on a tap that matches my lathe headstock. Going to make some threaded waste blocks and mounting blocks for projects such as the segmented turning. Hoping I can “rent” it to other club members that want to do similar or come up with a good design like my segmenting mentor’s version and sell a few to make the investment back.

Yeah buckthorn will do that. I am currently oiling a knife handle made of the stuff. I showed a pic to my friend and he said:“Bist du sicher, dass das Kreuzdorn ist? Das sieht zu hell aus.“ which means:“Are you sure that that is buckthorn? It looks way to light.“ then I showed him the handle and he said:“Ja das sieht wieder richtig aus.“ which means that it looks correct. Buckthorn just doesn’t want to be photographed. It’s like a shy tv star.

Can’t remember if I saw the reference to Turningwood.com here or somewhere else, but in my effort to get organized in my shop I had gotten my right-angle small sander ( from Craft Supplies) out where it is accessible so that I don’t ignore it. I saw these Abranet sanding discs and these printed tower holders. Fit and finish were as advertised.

I went to the lazer guy's shop the other day to pick up some resin pieces he made for me. The main entry way of his shop was stacked with boxes, probably around 70 all about the size of a shoe box. I asked what that was all about and he said they were tools for Bright Wood - a lumber mill out here. Turns out they were all various cutting heads for planers. They wanted a sequential number applied to each because they know precisely how many hours they can use a cutting bit before it has to be rotated and so they needed to keep track of each head. They had to bring them into the shop by hand because the pallet was too big to bring in and you know much those big cutting heads weigh. And the lazer guy said they had four more pallets they were bringing after this one.
