Due to a malfunction in my recent purchase of a DeWalt shop vac, as explained in another thread https://woodbarter.com/threads/dewalt-16-gallon-shop-vac-review.55744/ I ordered a different brand of shop vac that was available through Home Depot. Decided to try the Ridgid brand, as pictured below. Put it together yesterday and took it on its paces through a trial run in the workshop. I’ll give it a thorough testing in the days ahead while under the warranty period. Chuck IMG_3505.jpeg

Most Ridgid tools have lifetime warranties. Not sure about shop vacs. If so, make sure you register the vac on line. I have 3 sets of screw guns and have received multiple free batteries.

Appreciate that reminder. I’ll make sure to register it. The box says lifetime warranty, and I am definitely okay with that! Chuck

Bought a Ridgid vac years ago and didn't know about warranty. I just had my first vac (Shop Vac) freeze up. Hopefully my Ridgid will last without the warranty or else I'll be buying a new one too.

Had my first vac (Shop Vac) motor burn up a couple months ago. I had it for like 10 years with no issues. Tried the DeWalt equivalent and it was not reliable, so turned it in and thought I would give Ridgid a go. I did register it this morning! Chuck

Mark, here are some pictures of the Palo Verde Burl.
This is what the exterior looked like.

This is what some of the interior looks like. It is a cutoff from picture 1.

This picture is from the small log that I split up.

This is the small log that I cut up for Doug. He got the most wood from this log and I kept this one.

I think this is Catclaw. About 75% sure. I see 6 dead limb starts. What do any of you see in this piece of besides wood?.

This is what I got the interior wood from. I call it a burl piece as I see 7 eyes, but what this piece above shows is 6 branch starts or dead limbs.

Trev, I don't know about Salt Cedar even though I have a bunch, but after a week or so after posting that picture, I realized it doesn't really look like Palo Verde. I'll try to remember where the rest of it is stored here, and make a real determination. ................. Nubs

I found a big box of cholla slices on my porch yesterday afternoon - thanks Jerry ( @Nubsnstubs ). Jerry's making sure I don't run out of things to do. Some nice slices in this box, I think they'll make excellent box lids, or table lamp bodies with a light inside, etc.

Got a nice box of Cholla from Jerry (@Nubsnstubs). Absolutely incredible pieces he sent me! I am really excited and can't thank him enough. Really amazing pieces in different sizes, including a nice one of mesquite and oak. I am looking forward to giving them a shot on the lathe. Some I will try and cast in epoxy. Thanks @Nubsnstubs !!

Ridge Carbide has a 20% off sale going on this month which prompted an order that I have put off for too long. I now have a couple of top of the line full kerf blades, a 30-tooth glue line rip blade and a 60-tooth combination blade.

These will pair well with the 5-horse tablesaw. I haven't felt comfortable with the thin kerf blades that stayed over from my contractor saw period.

I enjoy full kerf blades, also. I’m not familiar with Ridge Carbide. Do you recommend? Where did you buy them from? Chuck
