Ok, here is my chili and hooch for the day. I must admit that ingredients include four kinds of beans along with celery and onion. The secret is a can of Rotel tomatoes . I’ll probably need an attorney now.

Another extreme sad day in the Durfey household. Was heading to the shop just to look for something and wife asked me to check on our Great Pyrenees as she had not responded to my wife calling. So, on the way to the shop I called and she never failed to come to the back gate of the back yard. No Tipsy. Went to investigate and found her, looked as though she just collapsed. Not that you are ever ready to lose a pet, but losing one unexpectedly just over 2 weeks after losing one is heartbreaking!!! Frankly, this stinks. Just glad I have friends that understand, even if they are spread out all over the country.

This was a rescue that answered the desire of my wife. Prev owner had passed and his wife lost their small ranch and could not keep the dogs. Absolutely no fault of Tipsy’s, she just needed to rescue us and she did.

Simply awful! I really feel for y’all! Dogs are special creatures in so many ways. Chuck

Loosing a pet is so hard, I've lost many and everyone hurts. But it is easier when they go on their own. It's harder when we have to make the decision. A big heartfelt hug for you Gary.

Day was going good, until I got about half way down the stairs. The second half went way too fast, maybe .5 second.
Now a bunged knee. At least nothing broken. Sitting in a recliner all day with alternating heat/ice, and wanting to be in the shop ia a bummer.

Actually the weekend. Spent the weekend up in Denver area attending the Fly Fishing Show. Over the past couple of years I have been getting to know some of the celebrity fly tiers and hanging out. Continued to grow those relationships and make new ones. Even took a fly tying class on Friday and thought of Doug @DLJeffs the entire time, especially as the pictures of Peacock Bass from the instructor started to come out. The guys on both sides of me had also been in the Amazon and one of the 2 goes to Canada every year for pike. The class was titled “Bigger is Better” and was a blast. Taught by Steve Maldonado, we tied his Jungle Junky first then the $hit Talker. Both easier than they look…..with some practice I hope.

Yes, they both have hooks, the left one also has a second hook, and both of mine need something done with their hair. Oh well, more distractions from wood.

Those flies will work Garry. Just run a comb through the hair (almost looks like wool) and then trim it to shape with scissors. Try to achieve a bullet taper. How many times did you stick yourself on the stinger hook? I hate tying flies with stinger hooks almost as much as I hate fishing them - for just that reason, I hook myself more than I hook the fish with them.

What's the flashy green material for the main body on the fly on the right? That looks really good.

How was the Show overall? Has it grown bigger? When it first started it was called the Fly Tackle Dealer's Show and you had to be a shop owner, manufacturer, something in the fly fishing business, etc to get in - wasn't open to the general public. Then Ed Rice started up the International Fly Fishing Expos and ran one in Denver a few years. Now I think it's Bennett Mintz who runs these shows - same as the one in NJ and next week I think is in PLeasanton, CA.

Do any of you live in a town that has "roundabouts"? I took my mom to her eye doctor appointment and then to pick up a replacement for her nebulizer yesterday. I drove through 21 roundabouts during the afternoon. I suppose they're better than stop lights because for sure I'd have been sitting there waiting several times when there was no cross traffic. But there are sure a lot of drivers who have no clue how to manuever through a roundabout.

I stuck myself enough tying it I thought I was going to have red gills. The green underbody is chartreuse buck tail tied in 2 places along with that crazy Northern Flash Sunfish color. The very front top and bottom is similar to wool but a long hair dubbing from American Tied Flies; magnum dubbing. Long strands we tied on in the middle then folded back.

The show was great. I heard several folks say this is the largest on the circuit of 8 or so. And a lot of big names there doing presentations and such, especially of the Colorado community but others as well. I was also helping in our Trout Unlimited booth with our annual raffle fund raiser. Good vendor support, destinations, rod manufacturers, and others such as art and such.
