Here is the next box I finished.
the dimensions are 6 3/4” long by 4”wide by 2 3/4”tall. The body is Maple with a quilted maple top panel and a horse chestnut bottom panel. The hinges are a miniature barrel hinge It is finished with a drying oil and buffed out with a clear hard wax.

Thank you. It was a piece from the scrap basket. I think it is the coolest piece of quilted maple I have ever seen. I am going to search the rest of the rough cut random quilted maple pieces I have and see if I can find some more.

Hello. I just wanted to let you know I haven’t stopped making boxes. I have a couple in process but it will be awhile before they are posted.
I have spent a lot of time getting my shop all dialed in again. Hopefully soon you will see some more of my work.

While waiting for our new house (and shop) to be completed, I made a quick little mahogany humidor for the hotel room to use for the next month. Nothing fancy but a nice little box. There’s a tab on the backside to support the lid when opened.

Here is the ugly box I just finished. It is made from worm hole maple. It was cool idea that went south. The wood is really punky. I thought it would look cool but it had other ideas. It will stay in the shop as a reminder that sometimes thing just don’t work out.

Well eaten wood can change in a moment. I have also learned this the hard way.

I have more wood like it. I just need to figure out a way to harden it.

Stabilising will work. Vacuum chambers aren’t cheap though.

No it was (I think) thinned epoxy or laquer or some such and I am not certain which. That's why I tagged Barb.
