This project didn't go so well! Stopped and glued it numerous times while I turned it. To punky and full of cracks.
At least my walls have consistent thickness.

There's always a lesson to be learned, so no piece is ever a total bust, even if it's just verifying your eye/feelings on uniformity.

Saw this on Youtube yesterday. No sizes given. Trying to work out the correct parameters.
I think I have the diameters good. I need to figure out the lengths. Ordered some acrylic markers also. I can't paint to save my butt!

I changed the colors a bit and gave the two prototype ones guns and now I have a full blown skirmish going on!

My first captured rings. Small project for an upcoming relative. Maple with shellac finish.
Working on 3 other projects also. Lol!

Made two Christmas tree projects that went straight into the burn barrel!

Managed to do some more finial practice. Piece of sea grape with maple. Globe is not hollow as it's only 1 x 2.
The finial wood is smooth. Couldn't get the black paint to lay right. Think it's to cold in the shop.
Will make a few more before changing to African black wood.

Have you considered dyeing the finial? That would allow cooler temperature work.

ABW should be an absolute pleasure to turn. One of the best turning woods. Only real contender (in my opinion) is boxwood.
