Hi @Big Ry Glad the cherry works for you. I'll cut it and set it aside with the smokewood for you.

@Big Ry and @Friedrich9 If either you do come across brown's Rosewood, Dalbergia ecastaphyllum or red magrove, please keep me in mind for an 18" spindle :hi: I'd also be interested in the Hawaiian sandalwoods (santalum spp.) if you come across those too.
Griffin has Santalum elipticum, but its $32 per 5/8" pen blank lol I bought a 3/4" one for $25 a few weeks ago, so clearly they're raised prices.

Just updated the OP to include Laburnum and the remainder of the hard woods Ive been trying to find (basically, anything over 3,000lbf on the Wood Database poster).

Hey Ryan, you’ve got me wondering about the persimmon because my piece is much lighter than it should be. I wonder if it was mistakenly represented when I got it from the sawmill. As the next step, I’ll take some end-grain photos and we’ll see what it tells us.

As for the cherry, I measured off 28” x 5.5” in the photos below. My overall piece is 9” wide but the pith is about at the 6” mark, so 5.5” would give you a billet without the pith. There are some worm tunnels at the bottom, which based on an endview go down about a half inch. I can send you the entire 28” or cut it to 20 inches to eliminate the tunnels. I plan to use the other half of the board for a project, and the smaller side with the pith for some spindles. So would a 20” or 28“ x 5.5” billet work you? Hows $40 sound?
I have persimmon that has been dry for a decade. Dense and heavy. Lighter and has grey. Also yours is flat. Persimmon does not dry flat. Seems to make a Crack down center. I have had it from 4"-20" wide up to 3" thick. It moves a lot more than any domestic that I have dried.

Quick reply and I'll have a better look through later.

Salmon gum in large caps here: https://exotichardwoodsukltd.com/product/salmon-gum-burl-approx-13-no103-air-dried/
Gum Arabic I have a huge slab - at least my brother does, just need to get it from him
I saw Texas ebony at The Wood Fairy but I think they sold the one long piece
Persimmon I have one piece at 1 x 1 x 17" somewhere
I have a couple others but too small

Hi @Mike1950 thank you for your input on the persimmon. I’m pretty sure mine is mislabeled, but I’m going to take some close-ups and see what I can find out about it. would you happen to have a piece or two you’re willing to sell, maybe 2 foot long? I’d like a piece big enough for an 18” cue blank, or for both a cue blank and a few small bowl blanks. I think @Big Ry might be interested too.

Good to know about persimmon. Admittedly, its one ebony Ive spent little time researching, despite being a domestic species. Are you selling by board-foot, and if so what if your price for 4/4 and 8/4?

Thanks, Dave. The Salmon gum is a species Ive not found for sale anywhere, so I'll look into buying some from that link (link isn't working on my work computer, but it might be blocked).

I actually have another connection for Gum arabic, but its from Australia. So duties and shipping get pricey. I am trying to see if I can get some of these imports a little cheaper from someone here in the states before looking at international orders. Some are trade restricted as well. That said, given our ongoing trade agreement, we might be able to work our something if you have any species I cant easily get here.

In my case I don’t need planed, just part of rough sawn slab would be fine. 20+” long and anywhere from 3” to 10” wide, and 1.5” thick or more. No worries if you don’t have.

I can sand up the small blank I have if you need photos to confirm yours. I'm pretty sure mine was from one of the Paul Hinds boxes, so it was either Paul's persimmon or Mark's persimmon before making it to me.

Laburnum at Feines Holz

Woodwise UK have mun ebony in your size
I almost pulled the trigger on the Woodwise Mun a couple months ago when they first stocked it and the Pale Moon, but I decided against it because its too pricey to import a small volume. I lucked out in February with a 35GBP flat rate shipping fee from Woodwise, and I took advantage of that by ordering nearly 1200GBP in blanks, lumber, and live edge slabs lol. But Lee has since doubled the flat rate shipping to 70GBP, which is too much to only order a few turning blanks. If I could do another large order right now, I'd grab some of that Mun and Pale Moon.

I can also get Mun on ebay from Turner's Circle, but I am trying to see if anyone has it a little cheaper here first. Most things on ebay are overpriced due to the exorbitant listing fees ebay charges now.
