Rare exotics and edible fruit woods

Thank you.

I'm definitely interested in a few of these pieces. I don't really know much about the other species you mentioned beyond some cursory knowledge of purple gidgee and Australian buloke. I'm definitely interested in anything that is actually purple in color. I use tons of purple heart and also have a bunch of purple east Indian rosewood, but I'm always looking for colorful woods and especially purple wood. As for the others, I'll have to see them to decide if I want them or not.
No worries, if you get a chance. Checkout the Boonaree. If you are looking for hard it’s 4,560. Harder than most anything besides Quebracho and Acacia peuce

Yeah that boonaree does look like something I'd be interested in

@Big Ry im posting up some lots of rare Australian and or hard species. Sorry they might be a bit pricey, but I pay about $22 dollars a kg for shipping plus the price of the wood, so it adds up quick. My friends fine me some cool stuff but Australians know they have cool stuff and price it accordingly

I'm still interested in the pieces you posted here. I was just waiting to see what else you had. Plus I know you're dealing with stuff with your dad so I didn't want to pressure you. Can I still get dibs on those pieces?

Yeah, anything I posted in this thread is yours if you want them.

@Big Ry, did you want that piece of boonaree I posted in this thread. If so I’ll mark it as sold, I posted it in the sell forum

What can you do for the boonaree, spear waddle, buloke, dead fish, and gidgee?

Do you have more figured gidgee or are the other pieces similar to that second piece you posted?

I’ve got a few other things to post still. I had to run to the hospital. Cooktown ironwood and ironwood wattle. And Yarran an Acacia harder than gidgee.

I’ll price everything out. And give a bit of a discount.
Ive got a bigger board of spear wattle I can show you also. The gidgee I found a “master grade” or just very curly piece of gidgee. And I have a block of bubbly figured gidgee I need to unbury if you want to see them

Cool. Yeah I'd like to see it all. Thanks

@Big Ry

I’ve got this slab of Yarran I can cut some off of it for you if you are interested. Acacia homalophylla. Janka hardness of about 4,500. $40 a kg plus shipping. It’s still rough sawn mostly so not certain on figure. It has a few flat spots I took pictures of to show color.

What's that piece weigh? Do you know or have dimensions? If my numbers are correct, should be about $120/bf using the density on wood database.

I got 6.1kg but, I’ll round down to 5kg if you want the whole thing. It’s about 29” long. 1 3/8” thick and on the wide side of the slab it goes from over 11” to maybe 7 1/2” at the tip but averages over 9” for most of it. Similar situation on the back except one spot, where I’ll include a picture. If you want the whole board I can do $175

I don't want to take your whole board if that's all you got. That is, unless you're trying to unload it. For some reason I was thinking it was a log/ half log, not a board. So I thought you had more of it than you do. I definitely want some, but I think whether I take a portion or the whole thing would depend on how many other pieces of gidgee and any other species you end up digging out of storage ha ha

Hi @Friedrich9 I'd be interested in part of the Yarrah board if you end up deciding to split it up for Big Ry. I would need enough to turn a spindle 18". The thickness of 1 3/8 is good, so maybe a piece the same width too and 18.5" long. Could you do that for $50-$60?

@Big Ry I don't mind selling the whole thing, I've got 2 other boards, smaller but they will do for the projects I have in mind. if I ever find the time.

@SA-Motors. I don't mind cutting it if @Big Ry finds it acceptable. I also have 1-2 things I wanted to show you if that might change your mind on that. I know I have a piece of Hairy oak you might like. I think I have a piece of Bowyakka also... and maybe ironwood wattle. My dad and wife are both in the hospital so I'm moving a bit slow. I

I don't mind sharing it with @SA-Motors as long as I get some heartwood ha ha. I don't have a project in mind for it, but that sapwood looks pretty punky. And obviously I'm looking for this piece due to it's hardness, so sapwood doesn't interest me anyway.

So now we're up to boonaree, spear waddle, buloke, dead fish, gidgee, and yarran. And I'm still interested in the iron waddle and master grade or curly gidgee you said you still needed to pull out of storage. I'm on the fence about the cooktown ironwood after reading that it's extremely toxic and is even known for killing pets and wildlife.

@Big Ry I’ll get it sorted out. I’ve talked to The Australians and they say it’s the leaves and sap of the tree that seem to be toxic…hopefully not the wood, I’ve handled a lot of it lol. American black cherry leaves have cyanide in them. Heartwood isn’t overly dangerous other than standard saw dust. I’ll double check with a few other on the Cooktown iron wood though
