What did you do in your shop today?

Put two more coats of wipe-on poly on the drawer front for the drawer in that hall table I'm making. Maybe have it done by this week end.

And inspite of my ineptitude and blow out on my osage insert, I did manage to finish these two. Really pretty burls - don't ask me what kind, I don't remember. They're pretty, let's leave it at that.

Time was a little limited because it is our anniversary. I looked it up, the 43rd year is First Aid Supply Year so I got my wife a card and a brand new bottle of New Skin. Nothing says romance like liquid bandage, right? I think she'll be surprised. After so many we don't usually get all sappy and romantical about it. I baked cupcakes too. Got me some brownie points today.
Way pretty burls! Congrats on the anniversary! Always a good idea to be in the plus column on brownie points! Chuck

Thanks Eric.
HOW dark.....black walnut dark? It's a bright yellow now, hopefully retains some of that.

No, not that dark. It's actually not bad looking. I'm like you, I wish it would stay the bright yellow.
Yes Tru-oil is a good finish for it!

But I have found if you use some of this for your final coat you'll retain more of the yellow color.

Say what you will but there are more Gen 2 Dodges on the road(atleast where I live) than any other truck from its time. It's not a matter of opinion but fact. William, I hear those diesel engines are sought after as well... and on 52k on it!? That awesome sir. *bumps fists*

Sorry, I should have added William and I are friends. He has been to my house many times to get wood. We are Joking.
But I do doubt he drives the v-10, living in Washington and with new carbon tax we have the great honor of having highest gas prices in nation. Whoopee, hold it what am I saying I have a very thirsty Chevrolet 2500. Ughhhh

Haha oh ok... I took it a little personal haha

It’s not what I did in, but ON.
While back I’d added storage to the shop and realized that the main roof had years and years of accumulation of leaves/etc —got those cleaned off & realized metal didn’t look so good. That and my studio (shop) is like being in an oven.
I applied a seal/reflective costing to roof, will see how much it helps.
Was going to spray insulate the inside but have to wait until temp is less than 85 ( about October).

I definitely recommend spray foam on the inside! Chuck

There was an article in this morning's paper about the effectiveness of reflective roofs on buildings. Certainly better than a dark color.

David what roof coating did you use, and did you need to use more than one coat?

Sanded yesterday’s panel and glued up a second. Will make one, maybe 2 more then cut them lengthwise, mix up the strips and reglue into new panels. The more times they are cut and reglued the smaller the squares on the surface of the final product.

Off to Woodcraft for more glue.

Karl, I used the APC brand at Lowes, it’s about $100 for 5gal. That and a real knappy roller. Can says best with 2 coats, will just about have that. Lasts 10 yrs it says.
There was another brand for $369/5 gal— swmbo wasn’t going for that.

Made a new lid for a cheap crock to use as a container for rinse aid for a commercial dishwasher that swmbo has decided we are using here at the house.
We lack about 2 items to have a commercial kitchen at home. Don't have the commercial fridge or Vulcan 6 burner stove in our single wide yet 16907543924203255457872139919590.webp
