What did you do in your shop today?

Turned (maybe 1/4” walls) a big piece of Pear. The curl was a bonus. Also has a little splash of heartwood color on the bottom. About 11.5” across and deep - almost 6”. Gonna let it dry for a while, then sand and finish the foot.

edit - forgot to mention I got a 9” core too, so still need to work on this one (last pic)

Wife said I want a table.
Working on a piece of cherry. Then a piece of butternut.

Not on the lathe but in the workshop. I made some oatmeal/raison cookies for snacks.

Finished up my beading tool handles. As I stated before, the bead decoration is the size of the beading cutter. This was a fun effort. Now to go use them!

Great looking set of tools! Obvious to size the beads to the tools, except it never occurred to me until you did it.

Who makes those tips? Just wondering how close they are in size/shape to the D-Way beading tools used in basket illusion pieces.

So, where's the table, Phil? ............... Nubs
"Working on". Leaving for vacation so might not be complete for a while. Will post when done. Spent the rest of the day removing acorns from the lawn so they don't bust the siding from the mower.

Looking good Garry. Just an observation on the beads. It might be the camera angle, but I wouldn't be afraid to run the beading tool deep enough to give yourself a nice crown on each of the beads. Some of them look like they are a little "flat" and I think you will like them even better if they had more of a crown. Again, not being critical, because the pics might be deceiving. I have some of the DWay beading tools and really like them. JD

I only asked that because of the way you wrote it. One line, no date when, no wood description, no size or any other stuff that might be pertinent. It looked like she said, "I want a table" that went into the right ear and exited the left in a heartbeat. :sofa: Please don't take it as being mean. Just trying to be funny and stimulate more conversation. .................Nubs

I found it funny. Possibly because I was wondering the same thing.

Noticed that while cutting the others and tried to do better. Still learning that sweet spot of an angle to get that nice crown. Like that description, “crown.” Thanks!!!!

By the way Tim, took the tools last night to our turning club to show off and one of the guys specifically said the same thing, his favorite feature.

Those are Easy Wood carbides. Went with them as I have other Easy Wood tools and the cutter size bolt is common to their mid, medium, and small cutters/tools.

I'm just waiting for this load of oak to mature. Then I can finish.

Went with the butternut instead. Started on the bottom.

Got three coats of shellac on the post.

Once again not the wood shop, but finally have my Cherokee back on the road. All it was is money and time. Went back to stock springs and the replacement shocks I had already done. Hopefully someone needs these gently used, 100 mile parts for their big build. At least it went fairly easy. Practice makes perfect.

Looking good! I had an International Scout once that was a similar, but slightly toned down color! Could always find it in a huge parking lot! Chuck
