Then found wrecked insurance write off for parts. It gives me most of what I need. Plus a bunch of stuff for future use.

Dude must have ran into the back of a semi, oy explanation I can come up with for destroying the fairing but not the fork, fender, and wheel.

I'll pull what I need when the weather warms up and then box the rest for later use if need be.

This could have gone in the weather, or garden thread, but 73° today and figured I'd better get started pruning fruit trees. Started with the Honey crisp. Being pretty severe as last couple years the tree looks like a weeping willow at harvest. Obviously not as severe as an orchard worker might be, but doing a lot of thinning and cutting back. Going to have to get out the big ladder to reach the top.

I would consider giving it 2 years of this treatment, then the 3rd year, maybe shorten the tree a bit instead of of thinning branches. That way you don't starve the roots out by removing too much canopy at once.

Drove 2 hours one way to get a better trailer for my boat. Needs very little tlc, I'll make new bunks for it because once the boat is on it you'll never do it, lol. Worth the drive, a solid trailer thats rated at 7,000 lbs capacity, torsion axles with disc surge brakes, spare tire, nice chrome wheels and all the lights work. Im pretty happy with it, much better trailer than the one the boat is on now. Ill sell the old trailer when i make the swap. Now to make new bunks for it. 20260309_122727.jpg 20260309_122754.jpg
I had to laugh at the 2 attack roosters that where there, a turkey, a white peacock a rabbit, and other chickens. Kind of a petting zoo. Lol.

We got out for a little hike before another weather system blows in. And by blow in, we mean a Gail is blowing!! @trc65 , this belongs on the weather forum but has your Cheyenne nephew sent you any pictures of blown over trucks. Friday and Saturday have been horrible for gusts. But with the wind comes warm weather.

Did a small loop around Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Good to get out.

@Mr. Peet , took the picture of the park sign and one stump just for you. Just not sure how I am going to get a sample for your collection.

And not to start an argument, but according to the signs, we are still in a global cooling……give or take since the eocene era 34-35 million years ago.

No overturned semi truck pictures. He said they lost power at their house Thursday morning and he had to go barter some salami to get a generator from a friend to keep refrigerators/freezers from getting too warm. He got power back late that night. Said even into the evening the scanner was busy with more downed power lines and resulting fires. They were still getting 90 mph winds at 5:00 in the afternoon. Schools shut down just after lunch and we're closed on Friday.

Weather station on base clocked winds at over 100 mph earlier in the day. Worse part was all the helicopters were in a hanger and the roof started collapsing. They had to move them all outside in that wind and get them tied down. Said the hangar is nothing more than a steel beam skeleton now.

For those that don't know, FE Warren AFB doesn't have any fixed wing aircraft or even a runway for any to land. The base has the 90th Missile Wing and is part of the Air Force Global Strike Command. In other words they take care of ICBM's. Nephew is part of the group that maintains electronics and communications in the silos. The helicopters provide transport, support and security for the ICBM silos/network. Currently they use Huey's, but are transitioning to the Grey Wolf helicopters.

Here was on I77 on Fancy Gap Mtn in Carroll County, VA. Next county over from me where I used to live and the wife is wanting to move back to. The bad part of living in Fancy Gap is the wind and fog. If you've ever traveled on I77 through VA, you know this mountain.

Some without power in our little area late yesterday evening but no fires reported thankfully. Woke to calm and about an inch of snow.

Seems I have heard how many square miles that missile field spans but can’t recall. It’s a lot with some of it extending into NE Colorado.

That must be a weird and frightening feeling if you're a big rig driver and you feel your trailer starting to wobble and tip and the cab starts to heel over.

Spoiler alert if you are planning to watch the Paralympic ice hockey final against Canada Replay.

They did, clean sweep for the American ice hockey program!!! First time in Olympic history for one country to take all 3 golds in hockey. Incredible game up until about 5 minutes left when Canada pulled their goaly and gave the American team an easy goal right off the face off.
